Hi there. I have been teaching adults and university students for five years. I have worked and travelled widely, including as a production journalist at the BBC in the UK, an architect at Hyundai in South Korea, and a Science Communicator at a National Japanese University. I hail from Northern Ireland. I have a masters degree in journalism from Ulster University, and a masters degree in architecture from Liverpool JMU. I am currently completing a PhD in environmental education at National Taiwan Normal University. I am interested in news, culture, and current affairs, urban and rural design and sustainability, and the world at large. I recently got married, and have become a father. I am based in Taichung. I look forward to seeing and hearing you in class!

The spectator is a good material for learning culture things. The teacher chose an interesting topic and prepared many questions to discuss, also providing the audio for listening. This lesson helped me to practice listening, reading and critical thinking. Highly recommend!

Even if you are unable to finish these short five to ten minute videos, you can still offer your thoughts on the topic. Additionally, Richard sometimes comments on different news agencies' reporting styles and perspectives, making this class particularly informative.
